Bluegreen Associates Exceed $50,000 Fundraising Goal in Support of JDRF Walk to Cure Juvenile Diabetes

Boca Raton, Fla., – April 17, 2013—Bluegreen Corporation (“Bluegreen Vacations”), a leading vacation ownership marketing, sales and hospitality company, today announced its team of Associates participating in the Walk to Cure Diabetes exceeded their $50,000 fundraising goal.

“Once again, I’m extremely proud of the generosity of Bluegreen Vacations associates,” President and CEO John M. Maloney Jr. said. “Every year you give so much, and I promise you that I never take it for granted.”

Almost 100 Southeast Florida associates and family members took part in the JDRFWalk for the Cure through the Mizner Park neighborhood in Boca Raton on April 6th.Field associates participated in fundraising activities in multiple locations that same day. The result: Yet again, Bluegreen Vacations surpassed its goal of $50,000,raising $51,065.39 for the fight against Type I (formerly known as Juvenile) Diabetes, with more donations still possible. Associate donations have surpassed the company goal every year since Bluegreen Vacations became the principal corporate sponsor of the walk in 2005.

Whatever the final total, Bluegreen Vacations associates will account for a disproportionate amount of the final 2013 collection. Despite constituting only about 4 percent of the 2,500 overall walk participants, the company will bring in about 17 percent of the total, now expected to be somewhere between $301,000 and $315,000.

Before the race, Mr. Maloney—who again served as corporate chair of the walk—addressed walk participants from the stage of the Mizner Park Amphitheatre. A past president of the Greater Palm Beach Chapter of JDRF and now a finance committee member for JDRF International, he gave the crowd an honest assessment of the fight to end diabetes. Sharing the stage with his daughter, Jordan, and son, Jack, he said thatwhile no cure is imminent, progress in research occurs almost daily. He said he’s hopeful of a cure in his children’s lifetime.

“On behalf of JDRF (its staff, board of directors and volunteers), I cannot thank you enough for this level of dedication, fundraising and support,” said Laura Hazelwood, Executive Director of JDRF, Greater Palm Beach County Chapter. “Bluegreen remains our top corporate partner in our chapter’s 20+ year history – for this, we are very grateful and you should be very proud.”

“Bluegreen rocks! Thank you all,” she said.
