Bluegreen Hosted Luncheon for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk to a Cure

Boca Raton, Fla., – January 22, 2013 – Bluegreen Vacations, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bluegreen Corporation (NYSE: BXG), today announced that its corporate office hosted an invitation-only kick-off luncheon for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Walk to Cure Diabetes on Thursday, January 17, 2013. This year’s Walk to Cure Diabetes will take place in Boca Raton’s Mizner Park on Saturday, April 6, 2013.

The complimentary Walk to Cure Diabetes luncheon took place at the Boca Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida. The event was hosted by Bluegreen President and CEO John M. Maloney, Jr.

A core belief in Bluegreen culture is the value of philanthropy. Bluegreen believes philanthropic work benefits everyone—those who receive the philanthropic efforts and the community in which those involved with philanthropy live. Bluegreen’s dedication to the local chapter of JDRF over the past 10 years has resulted in a collective contribution of just over $1 million. JDRF will honor Bluegreen this year at their annual Awards Open House in June.

Bluegreen’s fundraising goal for this year’s walk is to have at least 200 walkers, who hopefully contribute at least $50,000 to the JDRF Chapter’s overall goal of $341,000.

JDRF is the leader of the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community, unifying global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D. At least 82% of donations raised are directed to JDRF’s mission of finding a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.

The Walk to Cure Diabetes will be hosted at the Mizner Park Amphitheater in Boca Raton on April 6. More than 2,500 people are expected to attend this family-fun day to raise funds to support research and awareness about the seriousness of the disease.

Those interested in lending support can do so through personal donations, familiar school walk teams, corporate sponsorship, the sale of JDRF paper sneakers, hosting a Wrap-Around Fundraiser and so much more!
