Kennedy Space Center Bluegreen

Ready for a fun vacation excursion into the city? From museum outings to outlet shopping to garden tours and more, here’s a list of Orlando’s best things to do when you’re ready for a break from the crowded parks. Kids will love the Trampoline Park or Science Center, but be sure to take a trip to the Chocolate museum or Park Avenue Shops and treat yourself to a quiet afternoon.

Kennedy Space Center – Kennedy Space Center isn’t a light year away – it’s only 45 minutes from Orlando, and possibly the closest you’ll come to outer space. Step out of your car and climb aboard a replica spaceship, then grab a bite to eat while you shoot the breeze with a real astronaut. Spend the rest of your day launching into fun activities that will have you feeling like a space explorer.

Orlando Science Center – Give your kids plenty to ponder with an exciting trip to the Orlando Science Center. This fun and provocative museum, located just north of downtown, has a worthy mission statement: to inspire science learning for life. With its giant CineDome movies, a planetarium, four floors of hands-on exhibits, and thought-provoking live programming, the OSC makes for a perfect day trip, particularly when it’s rainy or your group needs a break from the sun.

Park Avenue Shops – Park Avenue in the Orlando suburb of Winter Park will make your heart race, especially if the thought of shopping for contemporary designer clothing and gifts gets you going. Park Avenue store windows tempt, with apparel, accessories, books, art and gifts. Many items you’ll want to wear, carry, give or receive can be found along this stylish and busy thoroughfare.

World of Chocolate Museum – As the tagline “Deliciously Different. Delightfully Fun” suggests, the World of Chocolate Museum & Café is one of the most wonderful things to do in Orlando. You don’t even have to be a chocoholic to enjoy a trip to this Orlando sweet spot. The offerings are as varied as the chocolate they provide, so there is something for everyone to enjoy – from chocolate-making workshops and exhibits to interactive displays and the delicious World of Chocolate Café.

Gatorland – Where can you find the Alligator Capital of the World? At Gatorland, in Orlando, Florida. Despite the ferocious name, this is actually a nice, safe place to get acquainted with this fearsome reptile. Take a seat at the World Famous Gator Wrestlin’ Arena for a thrilling show with wranglers who catch six- to eight-foot alligators by hand.

Leu Gardens Orlando Bluegreen

Leu Gardens – Orlando’s Harry P. Leu Gardens ranks among the parks best loved by Orlando visitors and residents alike. In 1936, Mr. and Mrs. Harry P. Leu purchased Leu House and 40 acres of land. The Leus traveled all over the world, assembling a wide variety of exotic plants and some 240 varieties of camellias for their gardens. In 1961, they deeded the house and the gardens – their lives’ work – to the city of Orlando. These gardens are now open to the public and a popular destination for those on an Orlando vacation.

WonderWorks – Orlando is the perfect place to let your imagination run wild – and WonderWorks can stretch it to the limits. This upside-down neoclassical museum features more than 100 mind-boggling exhibits, entertainment and dinner shows for the entire family.

I-Drive 360 – Spend the day at I-Drive 360, an entertainment complex featuring restaurants, attractions, clubs, shops and the spectacular Coca-Cola® Orlando Eye – a 400-foot observation wheel. Come face-to-face with realistic wax figures at Madame Tussauds, play the day away at Arcade City or journey back in time inside the Skeletons Museum, featuring more than 450 real bones posed to evoke curiosity.

Escapology – Prepare your British accent and unleash your inner Sherlock Holmes with Escapology. Escape games are taking the United States by storm. People are itching to get in an escape room and solve a mission. Sound easy? Give it a try in Orlando at Escapology.

Center Yourself at The Fountains

Whichever way you occupy your time while in Orlando, consider The Fountains as the center of it all. It’s conveniently located near all the above things to do, and has world-class amenities besides. See you there!
