Tennessee: A Mountain of Music, Charm and Good Food
Tennessee is a top vacation destination for good reason: it’s the heart and soul of the country music scene; a natural retreat defined by the sprawling landscape and lush forests of the Smoky Mountains; and the home of the very first Bluegreen resort, MountainLoft™. It’s also the source of classic southern dishes served with a generous side of down-home hospitality. Tennessee is a destination to put on your list of top getaway spots that’ll please all the senses.
Unforgettable vacations in East Tennessee start in the twin cities nestled in the Smoky Mountains – Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, just 7 miles apart. Each city is home to a beautiful Bluegreen resort with spacious accommodations that make for a comfortable and relaxing Smokies stay. This rustic city is called the Gateway to the Smoky Mountains and is known for arts, crafts and culture unique to the area. While Bluegrass and folk music traditions call the city home, Gatlinburg is equally well-known for its setting in miles of striking natural beauty.
Surrounded on three sides by the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Gatlinburg is about as close as a city can get when it comes to neighboring a protected national treasure. With more than 5,000 species of plants, more tree species than found in Northern Europe, 60-plus native mammals and 200 species of birds located on nearly 500,000 acres, it’s an area so diverse that the United Nations designated the park an International Biosphere Reserve. Home to some of the oldest mountains in the world, the Smokies are a natural wonder formed between 200 to 300 million years ago.
The resort that started it all for Bluegreen is in Gatlinburg, and it’s called MountainLoft™. You’ll find fireplaces and balconies in-suite, as well as a game room and fitness center outside.
Just a few miles away from the entrance to the National Park is the city of Pigeon Forge, known as the Family Vacation Hub. If you’re a fan of Southern living, or appreciate Appalachian culture and country music, you’ll find a lot to love in this tourist haven that includes Dollywood, the Island in Pigeon Forge, and local boutique shopping. Pigeon Forge is also a home for car and truck enthusiasts, with many such shows held throughout the year.
Pigeon Forge is home to Laurel Crest, a welcome mountain getaway with a wraparound deck, two pools, a sauna and a rustic look and feel.
