Gordonsville, Virginia

Lovely Lake Izac the setting for endless outdoor adventure

Gordonsville, Virginia is a pleasant Virginia town of charming shops, galleries and Southern nuance. It is a Main Street community, and churches, businesses and homes populate the tree-lined streets within the city limits. There are plenty of acclaimed restaurants as well.

The surrounding area often is called the Cradle of Democracy. Three early U.S. presidents lived here within three miles of each other—Thomas Jefferson at Monticello, James Madison at Montpelier and James Monroe at Ash Lawn.

Those recommendations aside, Gordonsville is just outside the Shenandoah Valley and thus maybe even a more desirable year-round vacation destination for people who love its rolling hills and pastoral ranchlands. Hiking, horseback riding and cycling are popular in the warm months, as are skiing and snowboarding in the winter. In the midst of this abundant outdoor setting is Lake Izac, a 60-acre reservoir on our resort property surrounded by pines and hardwoods. Boating, fishing and canoeing are a big draw for families and the beautiful and relatively secluded setting makes it ideal for romantic sneak-aways.
